Food processing and distribution company in Eastern Market challenges social entrepreneurs to make it work for the safety net

The opening of “Michigan Farm to Freezer” in Detroit’s Eastern Market is a good example of local sourcing and distributing of Michigan produce, as well as an example of the diversifying of development in the Eastern Market area ( https://www.crainsdetroit.com/food-economy/michigan-farm-freezer-offers-year-round-fresh-local-produce).Having fresh, locally-source products available locally will promote both the state’s agriculture sector and health. “Farm to Freezer” products will be available at Busch’s, Plum Market, Hollywood Market, Holiday Market, Papa Joe’s, and Nino Salvaggio’s – all suburban Detroit stores. The challenge for social entrepreneurs is, How do we translate this idea for serving lower income and vulnerable populations?
